Checkmate! Everybody has probably heard of this term at least once in their life. But what does it mean? Checkmate is a chess term used when one player has sucessfully prevented the other player's King from doing any type of CPR. CPR stands for capture, protect, and run away. In doing a check, you have an advantage in locking the King in place but it can still proceed with the process of doing CPR. Checkmate however simply means the King cannot defend itself in anyways whatsoever thus, you've won the game.
